At the time of this writing, I’ve viewed the first three of four “layers” of the first “Serial Experiment Lain, ‘NAVI’”. I collect it attractive in that is the most innovative of Japanese anime I’ve thus far seen. The style reminds me of underground comics of the 60’s and 70’s but has a freshness of color and motion. The series clearly shows the conditions of the characters; social disconection, benign neglect in a dysfunctional family, social seperation as it is found in both American as well as Japanese schools, etc. The underlying tale is of a young girl, alienated from others because of her shyness, finding a connection to what is called the “Wired”. It is not yet distinct as to the mechanations of her being made aware of the wired other than the E-mail she gets from a expressionless classmate telling her about how she only left this world for the one she’s in now.
I greatly anticipate the next video release where we can continue to peek the merging of “The Wired” and “The sincere World” unfold…
Warning! This series will be very disturbing to individuals who suffer from dysfunctional social skills. There is a risk I can observe the ease of identifying with these characters could lead to emotional harm.

STORY
In a nutshell, Naruto and his squad are assigned the task of guarding an actress during the filming of her latest movie. But like all Naruto characters, this actress has some skeletons in her closet and it was only a matter of time until her past catches up with her.
The movie keeps the general flair of the series without getting too caught up in stuff like fight scenes. Like it’s canon series counterpart, this movie does a superb job of things like top-notch back-stories and character development.

My only nitpicky complaint about the movie itself is that you could content that the writers were trying to cram in every awesome attack there was available to the according characters (Kakashi and Sasuke’s sharingan; Naruto’s Mass Shadow Clones; even Sakura’s snide side approach the begin of the movie!) . The character designs for the unpleasant guys and other movie-only characters are also not the best (the Princess’ is probably the best out of all the novel characters), but their back-story and curious quirks definitely originate up for this.
Amazingly enough, this movie also fits in well into the series (as far as I know) . Naruto’s flashback in the series and Sasuke level-headed being there shows that the movie is around the time legal after Tsunade arrives in the village.
TECHNICAL STUFF
As for the animation, you can definitely roar that the movie got the royal treatment in that department. You can especially reveal during the chidori/wolf scene. And, of course, like all new enchanting shows, the represent quality is lovely. The background music also keeps most of the more memorable music from the series as well as some novel tracks of their bear.
One thing I was horrified about when ordering this DVD was it’s aspect ratio. Leer, the movie was originally filmed to be shown in theaters, so the aspect ratio is widescreen. Again, rest assured, that this release has the widescreen version as well, as opposed to being cropped to fit plump cloak TV monitors. And to earn matters better, it’s in anamorphic widescreen, meaning that if you’ve got a widescreen TV, the footage will automatically fit to the size of the cover (as in, without the murky bars on the top and bottom of the shroud) . A remarkable better option than the alternative of setting up your widescreen TV to zoom in to take the murky bars, but keeping the rest of the relate, since that would in turn carve off fragment of the subs and earn the narrate slightly fuzzy.
LANGUAGE TRACKS
Upon getting the movie today, I was most terrorized about the movie only having the dubbed version. Rest assured that there is a subbed Japanese version available. Now, I have end to no knowledge on the Japanese language, but it looks like the only changes made sub-wise were done for the sake of “American-izing” it (ie: having the subs read the first name before the last name and excluding suffixes like “-san” and “-chan”) But nothing major.
And for those involved in the dub, based on the one scene I’ve seen of it, it looks like they’ve done a marvelous job keeping halt to the script and only making some changes for the sake of making the prose scoot better and for the mouth movements to match up.
It definitely would have helped if they pointed out that both the dub and sub were available on the box art. Upon buying this, I was completely freaking out about whether this release had both versions or not!
EXTRAS
No scheme I would have given this release the fat five stars if it didn’t have at least one legit special feature– a 10-ish diminutive short featuring Naruto and most of the other genin. The story’s basically about Konohagakure holding a dinky tournament among the younger ninja. The only quandary is that unpleasant ol’ Naruto’s constipated and is forced to contain it in for the entire tournament.
The short is also available in dub and sub and is in widescreen, so I’m assuming this was played before the valid movie when shown in theaters in Japan (kinda like Pikachu’s Vacation playing before the Pokemon movie) . My only complaint with this is that unlike the movie itself, this short is NOT anamorphic, so your options to watching the sub while maintaining its aspect ratio (on a widescreen TV) are itsy-bitsy to 4:3 (beefy camouflage) . Either that or you can have the cloak stretch out or zoom in to select those darn sad bars. The dilemma with zooming in is that this means the subs will also be chop off slightly since well… it’s not anamorphic. A shrimp hurt, but aloof agreeable of five stars.
WHY Catch IT?
You may be one of those fans who’ve downloaded this movie before Viz came around to distribute it here in the US… so you may be asking why you should recall it in the first state? Well, the method I peep it, you’re basically hurting the well being of the series if you don’t! Downloading the episodes while they’re available is one thing, but you should exhibit your care for for the series by buying the official releases once they’re available on DVD. It’s also always gracious to have a hard copy outside of your computer.
In conclusion, “Naruto The Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Point To” is definitely worth the assume, whether you’re a subtitle or an English dub kind of fan. It’s everything a fan would question from the series meshed together into an hour and 35 dinky movie.
NARUTO: NINJA CLASH IN THE LAND OF Point To is the first of three Naruto movies. I care for Naruto, and I have never seen the English version (I saw the Japanese version benefit in 2006 at a screening at Animethon 13), but having seen the fresh Japanese version I must admit I was kind of dissapointed in the movie, but I peaceful notion it was OK.
Naruto has been stalking a princess actress after being “moved by her performance” in THE NINJA Narrative OF THE SNOW PRINCESS, a movie to which a sequel is being made. Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke (our heroes of the day) move with the film’s crew to the Snow country to shoot the movie, and Naruto must protect the princess the whole draw.
That’s magnificent mighty all I’ll give away of the space, since the space is a Great fraction of the movie.
I must say, as a Naruto fan, I am kind of dissapointed. I opinion this movie would be powerful better. It had a very trustworthy first half, which was followed by a very lackluster second half. Meanwhile we do catch substantial action scenes, we accept lots of situation holes too; not to mention the derivativeness (sp? ) in the station (The King Kong-style “Movie” subplot, the “Total Bewitch”-like ending, etc.) . And we win some flashbacks; one which COMPLETELY effect me off Kakashi (If you’ve seen this movie, you’d know what I am talking about) . I am also surprised about some character omissions (Rock Lee not being in this for instance, My approved character!!!!)
And I couldn’t acquire this movie was only 84 minutes long, it felt like FOREVER.
The 2nd movie is coming out next year, I hope to support the screening if there is one (which I’m hoping there is) . So here’s to hoping the 2nd movie’s better!

The Wanderers is many things…an urban gang drama, juvenile comedy, changing of the times observe and more. It works on all these levels and has become a certified cult classic. At it’s core, the Wanderers is about the final death of the innocence of the 1950’s. Mixed in with the drama and action is a liberal amount of juvenile buddy comedy as the Wanderers ‘accidently’ bumb into women on the street in order to touch their breasts. This is how the meet Nina (karen Allen) a bohemian girl who Richie becomes infatuated with. There there are drunken parties, games of strip poker, etc. In one memorable scene, the drunken Baldies join the marines.
Through all of this is the theme of the changing of the times. The doo-wop of the 1950’s is now being replaced by folk music. A poignant scene has Richie following Nina until she enters a club where (in sound anyway) Bob Dylan is playing. Richie doesn’t enter as he seems to know that it’s fair not his world. The film also covers the assasination of John Kennedy as the symbolic death of innocence. It is this moment the galvanizes the strained relationship between Despie and Richie.
One wishes that the Ducky Boys had been better explained. They are a creepy group of men..older than the other gangs…who never enlighten and were actually seen taking Holy Communion in one fragment where Turkey enters their turf by mistake and his killed. What were the Ducky Boys representing? It’s the one mystery of the film.
The Wanderers has a incredible soundtrack of early 1960’s hits including “Soldier Boy”, “Stride Like a Man”, “Runaround Sue”, “Bawl”, “Enormous Girls don’t Bellow” and of course the title track.
This is a movie that holds up peaceful after 25 years because it works well on so many different levels. This was mostly a cast of unknowns with Karen Allen perhaps being the most well-known star a year after she did ‘Animal House’. An exquisite movie from beginning to extinguish.
“The Wanderers” is a class act and a stylish movie that has a brassy toughness to it that is both infectious and gripping. It was probably overshadowed on it’s release by the other gang movie of 1979 “The Warriors”, but “The Wanderers” easily holds an equal footing as an beneficial period allotment of working class lives in 1963. The film centres around the lives of a gang of young boys in the Bronx in mid 1963 coming to terms with friendships, school, girls and other gangs. Ken Wahl ( a promising actor who for some reason never quite made it to the immense time!! ) plays a sizable lead as the aloof talking and charismatic, Richie, the leader of the Wanderers. Richie is struggling to beget his gangs strength and dwelling in the local neighbourhood as well as juggling his many relationships with different girlfriends. He meets a young and blooming Karen Allen whilst out on the streets with his buddies, and from there another relationship develops. Allen plays her role with style, and even though Allen is not a tremendous beauty, she has that unmistakable feminine charm, especially when that fantastic smile lights up her face.

What makes the movie all the more piquant is the blueprint it goes slow the scenes into the home lives and the hopes, fears and dreams of some of the gang members. AVP – Alien Vs. Predator Movie Streaming
The first time I saw this movie, I absolutely hated it. The second time, I saw this “Unrated” reduce, and suddenly I didn’t mind it so noteworthy. I fact I kind of liked it. Maybe that had something to do with the fact that James Cameron himself said that he liked it, and I was under the influence of reading that.

Alien Vs. Predator is a sequel to the first two Predator movies, and a prequel to the Alien series. As such, it sets up how the Company from the Alien films first became aware of the Xenomorphs. The Company is represented by Lance Henriksen, playing the founder of the Weyland-Yutani Company, who later builds the Bishop android in Aliens, also played by Lance Henriksen. We can seize that the dude in Alien3, also played by Henriksen, is a generations-later relative of this character.
A lot of B-level actors have been selected for this film, most of whom I’d never seen before. Most notably is Ewen Bremner, the “other” Ewen from Trainspotting. While nobody in this cast (apart from Henriksen) is on a level with some of the supportors from the Alien or Predator series (such as Bill Duke, Jesse Ventura, Tom Skerrit, Bill Paxton, or Michael Beihn), none of them are that dreadful either. In fact they all have a sort of charisma, which is significant since you’re supposed to feel unpleasant when they launch getting slaughtered.

The script is the weakest point of this film. Many fans have pointed out many inconsistencies with the Alien series. While a slight thinking can patch up most of these region holes, some unprejudiced recognize wide launch no matter how grand duct tape you try to keep over them.
The tall two, which I can’t fathom an explanation for, are as follows. First, the life cycle of the Xenomorphs has been hurried so that they now burst out of your chest after what seems like minutes. Yet this is even contradicted later in the film, when a Predator gets infected with one! It takes him hours to burst out. Second, there appear to be more Xenomorphs in this film than there were human hosts. I don’t catch that. No explanations are attempted within the film.
Having said that, I reflect this movie is easier to swallow than Predator 2 with its cheesy gang members, or Alien Resurrection with its incredible cloning of Ellen Ripley and Queen.
Disc two is the dependable care for here. I watched the pre-production and post-production segments absolutely mesmerized. Paul Anderson is a charismatic director with a sure passion for Alien movies (the fine ones) and he clearly worships the ground that Jim Cameron walks on. As he and his crew streak us through the making of the movie, you really become infected with his enthusiasm. The fact that most of the movie was done with scale models with a minimun of CG fair makes is so distinguished cooler. It’s noteworthy more fun watching guys blow up models than it is to scrutinize some guy do it on his Mac.
Initially I bought this movie simply to have a complete Alien and Predator collection. After watching this sever, and the bonus material, I was twisted in. It’s not as unpleasant as I made it out to be the first time. It’s a popcorn movie. While the new two Alien films and the first Predator film were more cerebral, I own Alien Vs. Predator to be better than the later films of those franchises. I enjoyed it, and maybe you will too.
I unprejudiced read a portray of an interview with director Paul W.S. Anderson (director of AVP) . He said quote “that all the best scenes were reduce from the film.” He also said that the movie was always going to be R-rated until the studio enforced a PG-13 rating 3 WEEKS before releasing the film. In addition to the violence and gore prick from the film, a sub-plot that further explained the location was cleave as well. If it had been in the film, the nick footage would have cleared up many continuity issues. For example, the sped up alien life cycle in this film is not a careless error at all; the machine that holds the alien queen captive also injects horomones and drugs in to her, speeding up the facehugger/chestburster process. The footage that was slice would have explained that and also would have given the characters more cover time. Director Paul W.S. Anderson also mentioned that the explosion at the slay took up HALF of the 65 million dollar budget (which is ridiculously shameful for a film like this) .
So when you peek this film and slay up hating it, dont blame the director. He made a film that, if it had been released in the recent slash, would have cheerful long time fans of the franchises. But instead, the studio made it PG-13 (so more people could witness it) and sever out a lot of footage to execute the film plot too short (to fit in more screenings per day) .
BUT, the changes the studio made are helping. Currently the film is making A LOT of money, mostly because of the PG-13 rating. This means that the studio will be more likely to greenlight AVP 2 or, more importantly, ALIEN 5. But try to realize that if the film had been released in the modern uncut version, it probably would’ve only made half the money the unique lop has because not as many people would have been able to peruse it.
Luckily, an R-rated Director’s nick WILL be released on DVD sometime in the future. This edition will up all the violence and gore to an R-rated level (all the off shroud deaths will now be ON-screen as originally filmed) and add in an additional sub-plot that will definite up continuity issues, give the characters more cover time, and execute the location development clearer. As a long time fan of the fresh 6 R rated movies, I was Tickled to hear this.
Unfortunately, movies aren’t made to be beneficial anymore. They’re made to earn money, and AVP is doing that accurate now. So when you perceive this film, know that you aren’t seeing the final version of the film. But PLEASE peruse it because it needs all the money it can earn. And also, PLEASE choose the director’s nick DVD when it comes out because its gonna kick a**.

I’ve always loved this movie, but I idea the Blu-Ray report quality was about average. The audio may be better than the DVD, or it might be my imagination. If you already have this on DVD, I’d say it’s not worth buying the Blu-Ray unless you’re a mammoth fan of the movie. But without any extra declare or other special goodies, the Blu-Ray isn’t significantly better than the DVD.
I try to review my Blu Rays as a product, but once in awhile the movie seeps through to give it a higher rating.

Picture: a split. The clarity, depth and color all gaze sterling BUT, Universal skimped and decided to not do artifact removal. There is such a quantity of foreign material throughout that it actually detracts from some scenes. Especially the roof top scene where Brad throws the chair. Virtually every frame has someone’s hair, flakes or sweater lint clogging up the white sky. The Tony Scott yellow lens looks ample in Blu, but by the slay of the film – a substantial white film wear goes across Redford’s face, followed by a customer asking when I was going to play the Blu to compare (hated to say I was) .
The sound – DTS sounded the same as the DVD, maybe some nice clarity upgrades but I reflect I was trying hard to fetch them.

Menu – they changed it, which sucked for me because I liked the venerable music and it former to net a customer’s attention as it looped. Now, they cleaned up different scenes and spliced them in with elevator music. Otherwise, the usual left-sided Universal menu and navigation.
This would be a 3-star Blu for features and DTS with an average represent quality, but it has to go up one for being an awesome movie.

This is a gigantic movie about the fourth generation of house music. Anyone who believes that House music was created in LA is sadly erroneous. House music was developed in the houses, garages and clubs of Chicago and Detroit, not Los Angele,s and it was produced for local club-goers in the “underground” club scenes, rather than for widespread commercial release. As a result, the recordings were worthy more conceptual, longer than the music usually played on commercial radio. House, techno, electro and hip-hop musicians old-fashioned analog synthesizers and sequencers to execute and arrange the electronic elements and samples on their tracks. House music “humanized” the unusual electronic instruments by combining live feeble instruments and percussion and soulful vocals with preprogrammed electronic synthesizers and “beat-boxes”.

The second phase occurred when Recent York started to fabricate house music. The style of Recent York house was a dinky more polished and got the attention of Europe. Italy and the UK started some lustrous house music and then game Germany and Techno.
Techno took the sound and perverted it by increasing the BPM count into something that was not luscious to anyone not on X. I worn to throw some of the modern raves in South Florida and it started becoming more about the drugs and not the music. House was in a unpleasant funk for about 10 years. In original years, starting in the slow 90’s, DJs and artists such as Miguel Miggs, Blue Six, Aya and others have brought benefit melodies and rhythms to house. Along with labels such as Hed Kandi, Slothful Dog and others they have ushered in a unique and strong fourth age of house.

There’s a whole modern type of dance music being created by DJs in clubs around the world and it’s NOT Hip-hop! It’s “House Music” which is long continuous dance tracks created by DJs in clubs. I didn’t even know where the word “house” came from until I saw this really well done documentary by a first time director. (It came from the fact that it started in an LA club called “The Warehouse”, and the music style was shortened to ‘house.)
This is not your typical Hip Hop scratching DJ. These guys (and ladies, as there are females as well) blend sounds and beats to design INSTRUMENTAL soundscapes. It’s a sizable world-wide phenomenon. The interviews with the DJs are Utter and these guys (and gals) are mostly in their 30s or 40s (or so it appears. This music was current to me but I now understand it thanks to this film. If I had one suggestion it would be to shorten it by about 20 minutes as a few parts are repetitive but, I’m composed impressed by the draw the chronicle goes. Mighty of it was filmed at a enormous annual House Music Conference in Miami. Parents should be aware that there are some gratuitous shots of topless women on hotel balconies not mentioned on the box. Nice “view candy” but you should know it’s there.
I found this even more bright than the film a few years ago about turntablists “Scratch”. Give it a shot. The supplemental materials have extended interviews.

What a amazing film! I loved it! Genie Francis and Ted McGinley are smashing!! In The Notice, Francis is Peyton MacGruder, a human-interest columnist told to increase her readership or go on. I caught it each time it came on and was elated when it was shown again this past summer. Its message is timeless. It is well written with a twist of romance and a hint of humor. Genie Francis has been one of my common actresses and does an astonishing job. She brings great emotion to the epic and makes it so exact. Ted McGinley became my approved leading man. He and Genie have spacious chemistry. This is a must observe for all.

This best thing about this Christmas DVD is that it makes me feel tickled and like a kid again. How can you not be pleased seeing Diminutive Richard continually falling while trying to ice skate? Annete Funicello with green teeth? Whoopie Goldberg begging for work? Dinah Shore giddily singing without realizing she is annoying everyone? Pee-Wee and a group of Marines in a dance number? The respond is you can’t attend but indulge in every dinky of it. This special impartial oozes fun and camp. But the staunch fantastic thing is that it’s all about something distinct – selfnessness. And this good is never beaten over your head or made overly sappy. It’s simply piece of the whole.

The special features are miniature, only two, and they are both commentaries. The first one features Paul Reubens, co-writer John Paragon (who also plays Jambi) and Lynne Marie Stewart who plays Miss Yvonne, the most exquisite lady in all of Playland. The second commentary features four of the puppeteers who certainly had a lot to do in the special. The insights and tidbits on both of these commentaries are a gargantuan bonus.
The point to itself is speedily paced and gives you a chance to visit with some customary friends. Pee Wee’s humor may not be for all, but if you enjoyed the series, you will certainly delight in this special where holiday traditions are examined and lessons of the spirit of giving are learned.
The supporting cast includes members who have gone on to bigger things including Laurence Fishburne as Cowboy Curtis and S. Epatha Merkerson as Reba The Mail Lady (who is now a regular on NBC’s “Law and Order” minus the dreadlocks) . The guests include Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello, Charo, The Del Rubio Triplets, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Whoopi Goldberg, Magic Johnson, Grace Jones, k.d. lang, Shrimp Richard, Joan Rivers, Dinah Shore and Oprah Winfrey. Stars, music, fun, a sizable package.
The transfer is new from the masters with Dolby Digital sound and is close-captioned. Highly recommended if you want to acquire the Christmas spirit.

Willie’s Pimp gear and fashions in this film are so injurious, and the blueprint he deals with sort of being the new day Job of the hustler world with everyone from the man, the system, rival pimps, the parking authority (who seem to be towing his car in every scene), a social worker, the neighborhood youth and even his you-know-watches comin’ down on him makes this film very watchable… even though in many ways its sort of the Notion 9 from Outter Status of the sad action genre (by that I mean RIDICULOUS.) – - At one point I actually idea Willie was going to obtain Jesus at the waste and it was going to turn out to be some church financed films… things really got ridiculous… but yes, it does have a obvious ending and a message too!!!
There are some other things too that status it apart from other films of the era, including the injections at times of Dolemite style humor, including Willie’s revenge on a rival gangster by stripping him of his threads down to his shoelaces and leaving him in his birthday suit down by the waterfront, and in general the behaviour of the white lodge members at the hotel, who during a knife fight between two rival groups of prostitutes seem to be able to say shrimp than, “Yes, please!” and “Thank you, Ma’am” in the backround for no reason whatsoever. And I agree, the the film is definitely almost cartoonish at times… very interestingly chop… really has the feel of those early ’70s America International films.
Overall, whether you’d award this one best of the genre (in many ways it does rival the Mack) or feel it deserves a Golden Turkey Award, I’d have to say, it is an enthralling behold by any standard… Somebody pronounce me where that guy got his threads.. especially the green suit on the shroud!!!

The best Blaxploitation and fictional pimp chronicle I’ve ever seen. Of course, that’s all terribly relative to the genre and time period. A “righteous” Blaxploitation film means it has a solid ENOUGH storyline and that the producers spent a runt money on it to do it seem like an valid film. This one scores high on both counts, and you catch yourself trying to figure out what could possibly happen next. And for a film made in 1973, it’s surprisingly unusual.
The account starts off with our anti-hero, Willie Dynamite (who was the bald Murky guy on Sesame Street. You’ll never gape at Oscar the Grouch the same again) under seige from all sides, as he is location upon by an aged flame-turned-social worker, the cops, and a wickedly comic pimp named “Bell” (played by Roger Robinson) who wants to assume Willie’s dynamite hoes because he won’t join the newly formed pimp organized front.

Willie sports some of the most curious stuff you’ve ever seen, and when he walks down a site of courthouse stairs, prepare to be rewinding the tape a few times.
To top it all off, it has a moralty play woven throughout that you both cherish and despise: you dig it because it’s frosty to have a movie from that time with a just, but without being preachy; you loathe it because it can only mean the kill of Willie, who, despite his lifestyle, you near to like. Or maybe it’s the white fez with triple tassles. I’m not clear.
But while Willie is colossal, the character to gawk for is Bell, who steals every scene he’s in. He’s the cat that does the speech that’s clipped into “American Pimp” about vision, and it’s even funnier when you have it in context.
A well-done farce that pushes all the fair buttons, and a perfect movie to behold with a bunch of your wacky friends or REALLY frigid family.

One of the worst days of my life was the day I stepped in a steaming pile of “Manos, the Hands of Fate.” I idea I knew what I was getting myself into when I bought the new, non MST3K version of the film on DVD, opinion I could withstand the gutter level production values, the corpse-like acting from a cast of unknowns, the peppy Muzak soundtrack, the continuity errors, the molasses pacing, the carve and paste editing job, and dialogue that has an affect on the brain not unlike novocaine. I have seen some dreadful cinema in my short time on planet earth, but “Manos,” a film directed, written, and starred in by a fertilizer salesman from El Paso, Texas, easily sails past such memorable dreck as “Warriors of the Lost World,” “Feardotcom,” and “Jack Frost.” The film was so awful that the cast and crew snuck out of the theater during its premier, probably because they feared the audience would lynch them for unleashing this atrocity on humanity. According to a website dedicated to all things cinema, three of the actors in this film committed suicide within a year of the movie’s release. While I hope the abominable quality of the characterize had nothing to do with these suicides, you will seriously wonder if it did after watching this car shatter.
Considering how this movie consistently fails in nearly every aspect, one essential element not lacking is a dwelling. A family, consisting of mother, father, daughter, and poodle, heads out across the blasted wastelands of Texas on a fun filled wander. The excursion consists of a shifting series of seemingly endless shots of the barren landscape, punctuated occasionally by staccato bursts of nonsensical dialogue. Moreover, the first strains of elevator music play over the proceedings. You will learn to despise this music, but at first it’s sort of laughable to hear these types of tunes in a film. The family ends up arriving at a decrepit house populated by the film’s strangest character (and that says a lot) . This is Torgo; a bizarre looking dolt who whispers stuff about “Master,” sways a lot, and shambles around while whimsical music plays. He also takes a hankering to the mom character, has kneecaps the size of tires, and acts as the procurer of hapless victims for this enigmatic “Master.” By the time I reached this point in the feature, I began mentally willing time to recede faster. I looked at my notice so many times I suffered compound whiplash. But the Muzak kept playin’, Torgo kept shufflin’, and the dialogue kept getting dumber, so I kept watchin’. What can I say? I’m an idiot that device.
After the poodle and the daughter proceed, the parents become worried about Torgo’s antics. Dad heads out into the dim desert to sight for his kid and runs into a heap of difficulty. It turns out “Master” and a number of his scantily clad wives are holding a secret ritual that requires the family to play a pivotal role. “Manos” shifts focus significantly here, as we glance the inner workings of these peculiar characters. What do they do? Not great. Master wears a nifty cape with two tremendous hands stitched on it (the best do in the film, actually) while he rants and raves, and the women stand around gabbing or wrestling with each other. Torgo gets into so grand disaster that Master decides to sacrifice him for his crimes in a spectacularly listless contrivance. Why? Who knows? Who cares? If you’re so keen in the film that you need answers to these questions, you have problems in need of serious resolution. The fable fails in many ways but succeeds wildly in one primary aspect-it ends.

“Manos, the Hands of Fate” reminded me of another film I watched recently, the incredibly dreadful “Invasion of the Blood Farmers.” Both movies looked awful but had a unfamiliar appeal, worthy like a car accident on the highway. You know you shouldn’t recognize at human misery and suffering, but you simply cannot wait on doing so. One reason you explore at such a horrific tragedy is for life affirming reasons; you’re so thankful that isn’t you and yours stretched out on the road. The same principle applies here. I’m so cheerful I had nothing to do with the production of “Manos, the Hands of Fate” that watching the whole thing provides a definite measure of peaceful relief. This principle is completely theoretical, of course, but it does define why I let the DVD urge all the intention to the destroy. For some reason, claiming to treasure poor cinema for the sake of its badness impartial doesn’t seem enough with movies like “Manos” and “Invasion of the Blood Farmers.” In fact, promoting this represent as “so dreadful its helpful” in distinct circles would probably acquire you taken out slack the woodshed. Here it is: the fresh uncut edition of “MANOS” The Hands of Fate. Manos is the ultimate Mystery Science Theater experiment, and I treasure the MST treatment, but sometimes you honest need to discover a film unaltered to truly devour it’s pains. This is one of those times. This is the modern film as envisioned by genius director/writer/actor Harold P. Warren. Really the only disagreement between this and the MST version is approximately one puny of extraneous filler that the honorable folks at Best Brains removed to procure it to fit into the two hour time slot with the host segments of Joel and the Bots.
I won’t bother to review the region considerable here as anyone who would be looking this up almost assuredly knows the dwelling already. In case you don’t here is the remarkable abbreviated version: a family gets jumpy by lunatic devil worshippers, one of whom, Torgo, has really large knees. There. That’s it. The beauty of seeing this version is in noticing the cramped things and subtle nuances that aren’t distinct from the MST version, most notably clearer dialogue. I would bet that some of cramped Debbie’s lines was dubbed by adults trying to sound like a four year former, for instance. The dialogue is aloof melancholy, of course, but you can hear it better now. You also fetch the added cramped of footage, and a whole original appreciation of how worthy suffering the people at Best Brains went through watching this repeatedly while writing the MST script.

“Manos” is definitely worth five stars: it truly is one of the most ineptly made films in history. It was the brainchild of Harold Warren, who spent his maintain money on it, and it brought him ridicule from legions of movie watchers since it was made in 1966.
